Tivoli chair
Verner Panton designed his first chair, the Tivoli chair, for a restaurant in Tivoli, Copenhagen, in 1955. In 2003 the chair was re-launched by Joakim Lassen.
The Tivoli chair can be used inside a restaurant, in the conference hall or at the meeting, or as a dining or kitchen table. It can also be used on the terrace or in the garden. The chair is produced with a frame of stainless, polished steel. The seat is woven with strings of polyurethane, reinforced with a nylon core. The Tivoli chair is hand-woven and each chair uses 85 metres of string. It takes a professional weaver approx. 1½ hours to make one chair. The chairs can be stacked on top of each other, up to four at a time. The chair is available in 11 colours, and can also be made in colours of the customer’s choice for orders of at least 50 chairs.
